Become Age and Access Friendly: Creating Inclusive Spaces for Everyone

Everyone deserves to access goods and services with dignity, independence and ease, no matter their age or ability. The Age and Access Charter invites businesses, public services and community venues across the Fermanagh and Omagh District to take meaningful steps toward becoming more inclusive for older people and people with disabilities.
Being Age and Access Friendly means recognising that accessibility benefits everyone, including customers, visitors, staff and the wider community. Sometimes people are born with a disability, while others may acquire one later in life. By making small and thoughtful changes, we can all help to create a district where older people and people with disabilities lead more independent, engaged and socially connected lives.

Why Sign Up?
By committing to the Charter, your organisation will:

  • Improve accessibility and inclusivity for all.
  • Support people to remain active and connected within their community.
  • Reduce social isolation and promote wellbeing.
  • Potentially attract more customers and increase loyalty.
  • Demonstrate your commitment to equality and good practice.

How It Works

  • Download and complete the Charter checklist to review your current level of accessibility.
  • Tick the good practice actions you already meet or plan to implement.
  • Return the completed form to the Age-Friendly team at Fermanagh and Omagh District Council.
  • Once verified, you’ll receive an Age and Access Friendly window sticker – a visible sign of your commitment to inclusion.
  • To be recognised as Age and Access Friendly, venues must meet at least two good practice examples under each theme and a minimum of 20 overall. Organisations are encouraged to keep improving accessibility standards over time.
