Shaping Our Future Together: Community Planning in Fermanagh and Omagh

What is Community Planning?

The purpose of Community planning is to develop a long-term vision and plan to improve quality of life in the Fermanagh and Omagh district based on a thorough analysis of needs and priorities. Community planning brings together partner organisations from the public, private and community/voluntary sectors working with local communities to deliver better public services.  A quick guide on Community Planning can be accessed here.

As the lead partner, the Council is responsible for making arrangements for community planning in its area. You can find out more about the statutory duty here.

Why it matters

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is committed to working in partnership to support sustainable growth, with our residents at the heart of every decision. Community planning is more than a statutory duty, it is a shared vision for a stronger, more resilient future. By combining local insight with strategic expertise, we ensure our approach is inclusive, transparent, and responsive to the needs of our communities.

Community Planning in Fermanagh and Omagh

Here you can find information on our Community Plan and the progress made since its introduction in 2015.

The Community Plan sets out a long-term vision for the District and is delivered in partnership with a wide range of organisations. In 2020, the Plan was reviewed to reflect significant changes affecting our communities and ensure it remained relevant and focused on local priorities.

Building on this work, partners agreed in September 2023 to develop a new Community Planning Action Plan for the period 2024–2028. This Action Plan, finalised in February 2024, outlines a clear set of priorities and actions to support continued improvement and enhance outcomes for people, places and communities across the District.
