Strathroy Community Association

Throughout the COVID-19 health pandemic, there have been many examples of our communities responding to the exceptional circumstances to help those in need. Here, Strathroy Community Association shares its story.

Food Parcels
Strathroy Community Association answered the COVID-19 call to action without hesitation, hitting the ground running with the provision of food parcels and hot food in early March.

Community Food Bank
A community food bank has also been in operation so that the group could respond as need arose. These included specially prepared packs for the Syrian families living in Strathroy, who were marking the end of Ramadan, and hot meals for the children of the area.

Afterschool Club
The group’s Afterschool Club delivered a treat bag to each of their members and are currently planning a Leaver’s programme for the P7s.

Community Clean-Up
A community clean-up was also organised with over thirty bags of rubbish collected. See images of volunteers below from Strathroy Community Association and Strathroy Harps FC who helped in this initiative.
Working collaboratively with Strathroy Harps Football Club, all these community driven initiatives have shown that the Strathroy Community Association is as vibrant as when it was established in the 1970s.

*Fermanagh and Omagh District Council was pleased to provide Strathroy Community Association with £7,000 of funding support.
