Erne Chinese Families and Friends Association

Throughout the COVID-19 health pandemic, there have been many examples of our communities responding to the exceptional circumstances to help those in need. Here, Erne Chinese Families and Friends Association shares its story.

Erne Chinese Families and Friends Association have been busy during lockdown. Group members have been cooking meals from their countries of origin, making masks, doing art projects, crocheting and gardening. One of their members dug up half of the back garden to plant potatoes! The group have been trying to keep in touch during the pandemic through telephone and social media. A local Fermanagh Chinese lady has set up online shopping and a number of people are getting their ethnic food that way.

One family have been isolating since January after returning from China. This is one of the rare occasions the father has had time to be with his children as he works so many hours in his business. One positive thing about this period is that it has given the fathers the opportunity to spend time with their children which they cannot do during normal times.
