As part of  Positive Ageing Month 2021 programme, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, in partnership with Western Health and Social Care Trust, Integrated Care Partnership, Public Health Agency and Compassionate Communities delivered a regional webinar to raise awareness on the importance of starting conversations around dying.

The event encouraged everyone to think ahead to a time when you will need to make key decisions for yourself or for others. Death is inevitable for everyone – death, dying and bereavement will impact all of us, multiple times.

The message is that death is a life event we can and should plan for and that it is important to approach the different elements of planning. Planning and discussing our own death with the people who are important to us is an element of ‘self-care’ and allows us to live life more fully. It is however often a difficult topic to engage with family and friends.

The webinar was delivered as part of Positive Ageing October 2021 as a regional event through Age Friendly Network NI.
