Identity and Belonging conference

Intergenerational conference

An intergenerational conference was hosted at Fermanagh Lakeland Forum on Thursday 21 September as part of Good Relations Week. This event, organised by Fermanagh Churches’ Forum and supported by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, delved into the themes of Identity and Belonging.

Seven secondary schools, namely St Joseph’s College, Erne Integrated College, St Michael’s College, Enniskillen Royal  Grammar School, St Fanchea’s College, Mount Lourdes Grammar School and  Devenish College, actively participated in this conference.  Catherine Scott, the Learning and Access Development Officer for Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, facilitated the event.

During the conference, students engaged in group discussions to explore their personal perspectives on Identity and Belonging.  This gathering provided an excellent opportunity for students from various schools to come together and engage in meaningful conversations on these important subjects.

This event took place during Good Relations Week. The theme for this year’s celebration was ‘Together’ which  shone a light on individuals and organisations working together and sharing ideas and experiences in tackling everything from sectarianism and racism to gender inequality, shared spaces, peace-building, and cultural diversity.

Good Relations Week 2023  delivered a positive message of togetherness as it celebrated peace-building and cultural diversity in an effort to eradicate sectarianism, racism and inequality.
