‘The Future of Democracy’ conference

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, in partnership with Fermanagh Churches’ Forum, hosted an Intergenerational Conference ‘The Future of Democracy’ with guest speaker Dr. Johnston McMaster, expert in public theology on Thursday 22 September 2022 in the Killyhevlin Hotel, Enniskillen.

The conference explored how shared faith values can support participative democracy in the context of Northern Ireland, these islands and in the world context. It was attended by members of Fermanagh Churches’ Forum and pupils from Mount Lourdes Grammar, St Michael’s College, Enniskillen Royal Grammar, St Joseph’s College and St Fanchea’s College. Input from the speaker was followed by interactive small group discussion and plenary report feedback. Follow-up action points were also be explored.

This conference promoted mutual understanding and respect in the spirit of this year’s Good Relations Week motto of ‘Change Starts with Us’ and Council’s ‘Everybody Belongs‘ Campaign.
