Waste and Recycling update
Bin collections during adverse weather conditions - 06 January
Household refuse collections across the District have been impacted by the recent snow and ice. The health and safety of staff and the public remains the Council’s top priority. While bin crews are working hard to maintain refuse collection services, hazardous road conditions mean some disruption is unavoidable.
- The Council will prioritise general waste (black/green) and dry recycling (blue) bins this week (week commencing 05 January 2026)
- Brown bins (food and garden waste) will not be collected between 7–9 January and will be lifted on the next scheduled date.
- Residents whose bins were missed are being asked to leave them out where safe to do so, as crews will collect them as soon as conditions allow.
The Council appreciates the public’s patience and understanding during this period.

Household Bin Collections update
The Council is in the process of introducing new working arrangements for refuse collection.
Our staff are working diligently to minimise any disruptions.
If your bin is not collected as normal, please continue to leave it out, and we will endeavour to collect it as soon as possible. We would ask for your understanding as we embed the changes into our service delivery.
