Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will illuminate Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre, Omagh on various dates throughout the month of November

31st October 2023

Strule Arts Centre Blue

On Thursday 2 November 2023, both buildings will be illuminated blue to mark ASCERT’s 25th Birthday.  ASCERT is a Northern Ireland Charity that provides services to help individuals reduce alcohol and drug related harm in our communities.

On Friday 3 November 2023, both buildings will be illuminated purple to mark Child Brian Injury Trust GloWeek.  The Child Brain Injury Trust was established by a group of health professionals in 1991 to research and provide information regarding the effects of ‘traumatic’ injury on a child’s developing brain.

Both buildings will be illuminated blue on Monday 6 November in recognition of Talk Money Week.  With an increase in cost of living-related news, it can be hard to talk about money. Every year Talk Money Week encourages people to open up about their finances.

On Thursday 9 November both buildings will be illuminated Orange to mark International Microtia Awareness Day and spread knowledge about this congenital disability.  Microtia occurs when the ear or ears do not fully develop during the first trimester of pregnancy.  This leaves the child with small, underdeveloped, or no ears at all.

On Sunday 12 November, Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre, will be illuminated red to raise awareness of World Kindness Day.  World Kindness Day celebrates the power and common thread of kindness that unites us all. This day provides an opportunity to reflect on the positive power we hold to make a difference in the lives of others.

Monday 13 November 2023 will see both buildings illuminated blue to mark World Diabetes Day.  Scientists have made incredible breakthroughs – from helping people with type 1 to make their own insulin, to putting type 2 into remission.

On Friday 17 November 2023 Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre will be illuminated yellow to mark Inter Faith Week.  The aims of Inter Faith Week are to strengthen good inter faith relations at all levels, increase awareness of the different and distinct faith communities in the UK and to increase understanding between people of religious and non-religious beliefs.

On Saturday 25 November 2023 both buildings will be illuminated purple to mark International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.  Violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread, persistent and devastating human rights violations in our world today remains largely unreported due to the impunity, silence, stigma and shame surrounding it.
