15th October 2026
Significant progress is being made on the redevelopment of the Fermanagh Lakeland Forum in Enniskillen, with major structural elements of the new leisure and wellbeing centre now visible across the site.
Construction of the concrete base of the new swimming pools, concrete walls, structural supports and stairwell structures are all progressing simultaneously across the site of the landmark £70 million project.
Below-slab insulation and specialist gas and water membranes, designed to meet the rigorous sustainable construction standards required for Passivhaus certification, have also been installed.
Supported by £20 million of UK Government funding, the redevelopment will deliver a state-of-the-art leisure, health and wellbeing hub on the banks of the River Erne.
Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Debbie Coyle, welcomed the latest milestone.
“It is fantastic to see such substantial progress being made on this transformative redevelopment project with the scale of construction activity now visible on site.
The new leisure and wellbeing centre will be a landmark facility for our District, providing first-class opportunities for leisure, health and wellbeing for generations to come. Seeing key elements of the pool area and main structure taking shape is an exciting sign of what lies ahead, and we look forward to seeing further progress over the coming months.”
When complete, the new facility will feature an 8 lane swimming pool, learner pool and splash pad, a gym and fitness suite, community wellbeing spaces, a sensory room, soft play facilities, a café and a wide range of outdoor attractions, including a destination play park, pump track, 3G pitch, active waterfront and connected walking and cycling trails. It will also be Ireland’s first Passivhaus-certified leisure centre ensuring exceptional energy efficiency and reduced environmental impact.
Construction is being carried out by GRAHAM, with completion expected in Summer 2028.
