New Play Park Completed in Derrygonnelly
16th October 2026
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is delighted to announce the completion of a new play park in Derrygonnelly, providing a modern, inclusive outdoor space for local children, families and the wider community to enjoy.
The project has been delivered through the Outdoor Recreational Capital Programme, part of the Fermanagh and Omagh PEACEPLUS Local Action Plan, which will see 10 outdoor community spaces transformed across the district. The programme is supported by PEACEPLUS, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB), with match-funding provided by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council.
The Outdoor Recreational Capital Programme aims to create welcoming, accessible and inclusive community spaces that encourage recreation, physical activity and opportunities for people from all backgrounds to come together. The new play park in Derrygonnelly will provide a welcoming environment for children to play, families to spend time together and the wider community to connect and enjoy the outdoors.
Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Debbie Coyle, welcomed the completion of the project, saying:
“We are delighted to see this new play park completed in Derrygonnelly. This investment provides an important recreational facility for local children and families, encouraging outdoor play, physical activity and social interaction. We hope the play park will be enjoyed by the local community for many years to come and will provide a valuable space for families to come together.”
Vice Chair of the Fermanagh and Omagh PEACEPLUS Partnership, Ryan Tracey, said:
“The completion of the new play park in Derrygonnelly is a welcome addition to the local community and an important step in delivering the ambitions of the PEACEPLUS Local Action Plan. By investing in shared outdoor spaces, we are creating opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to come together, build connections and enjoy the benefits of improved recreational facilities. We hope this new play park will be a valued resource for local families and help strengthen community relationships for years to come.”
The new play park is one of 10 outdoor community spaces being enhanced across the Fermanagh and Omagh district through the PEACEPLUS Local Action Plan.
