Religious and Belief Marriages

A religious/belief marriage can only be performed by a minister, priest or pastor or person who has been registered as an officiant and authorised by the Registrar General to conduct religious/belief marriages.

Making arrangements

A couple wishing to have a religious/belief marriage should talk with the Officiant who will conduct their ceremony to agree the date and venue. A religious/belief marriage may, with the agreement of the Officiant, take place anywhere in Northern Ireland.

Marriage Notice

  • All couples must submit notice to the local registration office.
  • Complete and sign a notice form for each party. Your officiant must sign at least one of the notice forms. Return the original notice forms with photocopies of the supporting documents (e.g. full birth certificates, passports) by post or to reception at the Grange, Omagh or County Buildings, Enniskillen.
  • Follow up with card payment using our direct line phone numbers or enclose cheque or postal order payment, made payable to Fermanagh and Omagh District Council. The fee is £52.
  • The notice period is a minimum of 28 days, it is recommended all paperwork is submitted at least 8 weeks in advance of your ceremony.
