Religious and Belief Marriages

A religious/belief marriage can only be performed by a minister, priest or pastor or person who has been registered as an officiant and authorised by the Registrar General to conduct religious/belief marriages.

Making arrangements

A couple wishing to have a religious/belief marriage should talk with the Officiant who will conduct their ceremony to agree the date and venue. A religious/belief marriage may, with the agreement of the Officiant, take place anywhere in Northern Ireland.

Marriage Notice

  • All couples must submit notice to the local registration office.
  • Complete and sign a notice form for each party. Your officiant must sign at least one of the notice forms. • Follow up with card payment using our direct line phone numbers or enclose cheque or postal order payment, made payable to Fermanagh and Omagh District Council. The fee is £52.
  • The notice period is a minimum of 28 days, it is recommended all paperwork is submitted at least 8 weeks in advance of your ceremony.
