Site visit redevelopment of Fermanagh Lakeland Forum

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s Elected Members recently visited the site of the £70 million redevelopment of the Fermanagh Lakeland Forum in Enniskillen.

During the visit, Members had the opportunity to view progress on the landmark project and to stand within the footprint of the new eight-lane swimming pool. They heard from Will Gott, Project Manager with GRAHAM, on the construction progress to date and the range of subcontractors and local suppliers who provide vital materials and services to the project. An update was also provided on the range of social value initiatives being delivered in the District through GRAHAM’s work on the scheme.

Welcoming the continued progress, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Barry McElduff, said:

“It is excellent to see the progress being made on this important redevelopment project, with construction continuing to move forward at pace and on track. Standing within the footprint of the new eight-lane swimming pool really brings the scale of the development to life.

I was very interested to hear more about the wide range of subcontractors and suppliers involved, and the strong social value element being delivered through GRAHAM’s work. This is a significant investment for the District and will provide a modern, high quality leisure facility for our residents and visitors.”

Supported by £20 million of UK Government funding, the project will deliver a state-of-the-art leisure, health and wellbeing hub overlooking the River Erne. The new facility will include swimming pools, a gym and fitness suite, community wellbeing spaces, a sensory room, soft play, café and an extensive range of outdoor facilities including a destination play park, pump track, 3G pitch, active waterfront and walking and cycling trails.

It will also be Ireland’s first Passivhaus-certified leisure centre ensuring exceptional energy efficiency and reduced environmental impact.

A range of alternative leisure and recreation options continue to be available across the District while construction is underway. The new leisure, health and wellbeing hub is programmed to open in 2028.

Further information is available on the redevelopment page of the Council’s website.
