Brown food waste caddy and wheelie bin
Brown waste caddies are used for the collection of food waste. This means you can put items such as meat and fish (raw or cooked), bread, cereals, teabags and eggshells in your caddy.
People who recycle their food waste have noticed just how much food is wasted in their home and it has led to smarter shopping habits.
The brown wheelie bin is for garden waste and food waste.
Remember to place your food waste in the compostable liners before placing them in your brown wheelie bin.
Remember to place your food waste in the compostable liners before placing them in your brown food waste caddy.
Compostable liners are available free of charge from the Connect Centres at County Buildings, Enniskillen and Strule House, Omagh and at your local Recycling Centre.
Only compostable liners supplied or recommended by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council can be used in your food waste collection.
If you wish to purchase liners from an alternate source please ensure they are certified EN13432 compostable.
You can also place loose, un-bagged food waste into the bin, or you can use old newspaper to line your food caddy or to wrap food waste in. This can also go into brown bin or caddy.
Brown bins or food waste caddies containing plastic bags will not be collected.
Home compost bins are for garden waste and vegetable peelings. If you are interested in receiving a home compost bin, contact our Waste and Recycling Team on 0300 303 1777 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Check your bin collection day and ensure you present you bin by 7am on the day of collection.
