Small Worlds Workshops Foster Understanding and Inclusion
As part of Refugee Week, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council proudly supported two Small Worlds workshops, delivered by Together CIC, bringing together 38 young people from across the district to learn from the lived experiences of refugees and newcomers. Hosted at Omagh Boys and Girls Club and Youthscape at South West College, the workshops encouraged open conversations, challenged stereotypes and promoted empathy, understanding and inclusion. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with all participants reporting a greater understanding of the challenges faced by newcomers and many describing the sessions as inspiring and eye-opening. The workshops highlighted the power of personal storytelling in building stronger, more welcoming communities and reflect the Council’s ongoing commitment to promoting good relations across the district.
Community Connect Hub
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s Community Connect Hub is helping new residents feel welcomed, informed and connected within their local communities. Held monthly in Enniskillen and Omagh, the free drop-in hub provides friendly advice, information on local services, and opportunities to meet others, helping to reduce isolation and support people as they settle into life in the district. Working alongside partner organisations, the initiative reflects the Council’s ongoing commitment to creating inclusive, welcoming communities where everyone has the opportunity to belong and thrive.
