Traveller Living History Exhibition

To mark Zero Discrimination Day, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s Good Relations in partnership with Western Health and Social Care Trust’s Traveller Health and Wellbeing hosted a unique Traveller Living History Exhibition and Educational Workshops in Enniskillen Castle on 2 March.

The interactive exhibition was presented by Meath Travellers Workshop and provided a real insight in the lives of Irish Travellers, in the olden days, by the side of the road.

This exhibition featured a restored Irish Traveller barrel top wagon, a canvas tent and a campfire, and the facilitators offered guided tours of the exhibition and demonstrations of the traditional crafts of tin-smithing and story-telling.

This public event educated in the Irish Traveller identity and culture and promoted respect and cultural diversity in line with the Everybody Belongs Campaign that the Council recently launched.
