Motion: The Invincibles

Council - 12th November 2020

"In respect of collective recognition for a Decade of Centenaries of which the FODC Commemoration Committee work towards acknowledging and appropriately celebrating our shared history; This Council calls on the Office of Public Works to respond to justice being afforded to the memory of The Invincibles whereby, following well-over-a-Century, the necessary excavation works to recover the remains of Joe Brady, Daniel Curley, Michael Fagan, Thomas Caffrey and Tim Kelly transpire as a matter of urgency from The Yard at Kilmainham Gaol.

This Council acknowledges, The Families of the five men are represented by the National Graves Association, members of which are from this District.

It is the expressed wishes of the families that their relatives be exhumed from Kilmainham Gaol and reinterred in consecrated ground at Glasnevin Cemetery where they can be formally and suitably commemorated."
