Motion: Solidarity with Residents of the Garvaghy Road

This Council

Acknowledges that the recent events in Portadown have caused widespread concern across the Fermanagh and Omagh District and further afield.

Recognises that many residents of this district have travelled to the Garvaghy Road to stand in solidarity with the residents, helping to prevent an unwanted Orange Parade being forced upon that community.

And accordingly, expresses its solidarity with the residents of Garvaghy Road, supports their wishes to live in peace and free from sectarian discrimination and harassment and affirms that communities must not be dragged back to the division and conflict of the past.
