Motion: A4 Enniskillen Southern Bypass Funding Removal

Regeneration and Community Committee - 10th March 2026

This Council expresses great disappointment by the decision of Finance Minister John O’Dowd, to remove £6.6 million from the A4 Enniskillen Southern Bypass project.

Council notes that advanced site works commenced in 2022 and that further work was scheduled to begin in Summer 2025 and that scheduled work has not occurred.

Council expresses concern that any delays may lead to increased costs.

Council notes that £12.5 million of the overall project cost is being funded by the Mid South West Growth Deal and furthermore, notes with disappointment that the A4 Enniskillen Southern Bypass is not included in the Executive’s Draft multi-year budget.

This Council commits to write to the Finance Minister and ask that he commits to the £6.6 million funding being reallocated to the project in the next financial year and that the Finance Minister will include a commitment of funding specifically for the A4 Enniskillen Southern Bypass in the multi-year budget. Also, Council commits to write to the Infrastructure Minister and ask for work to begin on the bypass at the earliest possible opportunity.
