European Heritage Open Weekend

European Heritage Open Days (EHOD) 2026 will take place on 12–13 September 2026, offering free public access to historic sites, cultural landmarks and special events across Northern Ireland. The 2026 theme, Heritage at Risk – Revive, Resist, Reimagine, encourages the public to explore and share stories of preservation, resilience and renewal, while also improving access to heritage and uncovering lesser-known histories.

Suitable activities may include guided walks, talks and tours, craft workshops, community fun days, storytelling, music, dance and theatre performances, historical sports and pastimes, pop-up events, or projects highlighting overlooked sites and stories.

The EHOD 2026 programme features a wide range of free events, including:
