New Play Park Opens in Cavanaleck as Part of PEACEPLUS Outdoor Recreation Investment

Residents of Cavanaleck are celebrating the opening of a brand-new play park, the first facility of its kind in the area, providing local children and families with a dedicated space to play, socialise and enjoy the outdoors.

The new play park has been delivered through the Outdoor Recreational Capital Programme, part of the Fermanagh and Omagh PEACEPLUS Local Action Plan, which will see 10 outdoor community spaces transformed across the district.

The programme is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB), with match-funding provided by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council.

The Outdoor Recreational Capital Programme aims to create welcoming, accessible and inclusive community spaces that encourage recreation, physical activity and opportunities for people from all backgrounds to come together. The new facility in Cavanaleck has been designed to support active play while providing a vibrant space for families and the wider community to meet, connect and enjoy the outdoors.

Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Debbie Coyle, welcomed the completion of the project and said:

“The opening of this new play park is a significant milestone for the Cavanaleck community. As the first play facility of its kind in the area, it provides a fantastic new resource for local families and young people. We are committed to creating welcoming and inclusive spaces that support health, wellbeing and community connections, and it is wonderful to see this investment become a reality for residents. I would like to thank everyone involved in bringing this project to fruition and look forward to seeing the park enjoyed by the community for many years to come.”

Chair of the Fermanagh and Omagh PEACEPLUS Partnership, Councillor Errol Thompson, said:

Through the Outdoor Recreational Capital Programme, we are transforming community spaces across the district, creating opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to come together, build connections and enjoy shared facilities. The opening of the Cavanaleck play park is an excellent example of how these projects can enhance local areas while promoting inclusion, wellbeing and community cohesion.”

The Cavanaleck play park is one of a number of projects being delivered through the Outdoor Recreational Capital Programme as part of the Fermanagh and Omagh PEACEPLUS Local Action Plan, helping to improve community infrastructure and encourage greater use of shared outdoor spaces throughout the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area.
