Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is illuminating Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre, Omagh in a series of symbolic colours throughout December 2025 to mark key awareness campaigns and commemorative events. Each illumination takes place from 6pm to midnight on the designated date, unless otherwise stated.

The programme begins on Monday 1 December when both buildings will be lit in red to mark World AIDS Day in partnership with Positive Life NI. This initiative supports the #STOPSTIGMA campaign, highlighting the importance of sexual health being treated equally alongside mental and physical health. Positive Life NI advocates for ending HIV-related stigma and calls for Northern Ireland to commit to the World Health Organisation target of zero HIV diagnoses by 2030. On Wednesday 3 December, the Council will illuminate both sites in purple to mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This annual United Nations observance promotes inclusion and equality for people with disabilities and raises awareness of the barriers they face in education, employment, healthcare, and society. Become age and access friendly by downloading and completing the Council’s Age and Access Charter, an initiative designed to help local businesses, community venues and public services become more inclusive and accessible for everyone. On Sunday 7 December, Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre will be illuminated in blue to mark World Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome Awareness Day in partnership with The Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome Foundation. This global awareness initiative highlights the risks associated with monochorionic twin, triplet, and higher multiple pregnancies, and directs families to The TTTS Foundation for immediate help and information. International TTTS Awareness Month was founded by The TTTS Foundation as a collaborative effort to educate the public and support expectant parents worldwide. Learn more at www.tttsfoundation.org

On Wednesday 10 December, the buildings will be lit in purple from 4pm for Human Rights Day in partnership with Women’s Aid. This marks the final day of the Global 16 Days Campaign, which challenges violence against women and girls. Fermanagh Women’s Aid and Omagh Women’s Aid will hold vigils that evening to remember women killed in Northern Ireland since 2020 and to stand in solidarity against gender-based violence.
