Burren Bites

Following the success of its inaugural event in 2025, Burren Bites: A Taste of Time returns to the spectacular setting of Cavan Burren Park on Sunday 7 June 2026, offering guests another unforgettable culinary journey through the heart of Cuilcagh Lakelands Geopark.

Set against one of Ireland’s most iconic geological and archaeological landscapes, Burren Bites is a guided food trail experience that blends heritage, storytelling and exceptional local cuisine into one immersive event. Guests will explore the ancient landscape alongside Geopark Ambassadors while enjoying a specially curated six-course tasting menu created by award-winning chef and Regenerative Tourism Business Network Member, John Roche.

Inspired by thousands of years of local tradition and the unique terrain of the Geopark, each course is served at a different stop along the trail and showcases artisan ingredients sourced from producers across counties Cavan and Fermanagh. From contemporary interpretations of traditional flavours to dishes inspired by the land itself, Burren Bites celebrates the connection between food, culture and place.

Speaking about the return of Burren Bites, Chair of the Cuilcagh Lakelands Geopark Committee, Councillor John Paul Feeley, said:

“Following the fantastic response to last year’s inaugural event, we are delighted to welcome Burren Bites back to Cavan Burren Park in 2026. This unique food trail is a wonderful celebration of the exceptional produce, rich heritage and stunning landscapes that define our Geopark region. Events such as this highlight the importance of supporting local businesses and producers while creating memorable visitor experiences rooted in our shared natural and cultural heritage.”

Participants will enjoy a guided walk through the remarkable Cavan Burren Park landscape, discovering geological wonders and archaeological treasures while tasting dishes inspired by the region’s history and traditions. Every plate has been carefully curated to reflect the story of the land and the generations it has sustained.

Councillor Anthony Feely, Vice Chair of the Geopark Committee, added:

“Burren Bites continues to shine a spotlight on the outstanding food culture that exists across Fermanagh and Cavan. The event beautifully connects our landscape with the people and producers who have shaped it over generations. We are proud to showcase the creativity, quality and authenticity of our local food network in such a unique setting.”

The event also continues to highlight the work of the Created in Cavan Food & Drink network and local artisan producers, whose ingredients and craftsmanship form the heart of the Burren Bites experience.

Dermot Gallagher, Food Strategy Co-ordinator, said:

“We are delighted to once again support Burren Bites and showcase the incredible range of local produce available throughout the region. This event offers visitors a truly unique opportunity to experience the flavours of Cavan and Fermanagh while immersed in one of Ireland’s most remarkable landscapes.”
