Ulster Scots- LEID Week 2025

IRISHLANGCULTURE 1435

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council recognises Leid Week as an important opportunity to celebrate and explore the Ulster Scots language, its speakers, and its place within the wider community. The celebratory week is held every year in November.   It provides an opportunity to explore, preserve and develop our Ulster-Scots linguistic identity.

LEID Week Events 2025

To support this, the Council offered a grants programme of up to £200 for community organisations wishing to host events during Leid Week.

Funded events should aim to raise awareness of the Ulster Scots language and culture in creative and engaging ways, focusing on one or more of the following themes:

  • Promoting awareness of Ulster Scots language and culture
  • Fostering greater understanding and appreciation of Ulster Scots heritage
  • Providing opportunities to learn about and/or use the Ulster Scots language
