EVAWG- Be the Change Conference

As part of The Executive Office Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG) Momentum Funding Fermanagh and Omagh District council commissioned Fermanagh and Omagh Women’s Aid to deliver a EVAWG conference in March 2025 “Be The Change”
The conference was part of several activities delivered to address the whole range of gender-based violence, abuse and harm experienced by women and girls, looking at how working together, we can tackle this issue and “Be The Change”.
Compered by Sarah Travers the conference hosted several guest speakers and featured the launch of a tailored “Be The Change” Toolkit created by Fermanagh and Omagh Women’s Aid. The toolkit provides information on how to respond to inappropriate behaviours, policies and procedures and evidence based ways to support change.
Conference speakers included Steven Keown (Presiding District Judge for NI), Rebecca Hope (Interim Director of Sport NI), Karen Devlin (Women’s Aid Federation Northern Ireland), Aoife Mallon (Research and Engagement Associate- Ulster University), and Kerrie Flood (Interim CEO- Fermanagh Women’s Aid). The conference was opened by Cllr John McClaughry (Chair, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council) and closed by Cllr Noeleen Hayes (Diversity Ambassador, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council). The conference was open to everyone; businesses, community groups, sporting organisations, statutory organisations and individuals.
