Motion: Prototype Changes to Elective Care

Council - 5th November 2019

“This Council expresses concern about the decision to move cataract and varicose vein surgeries to prototype ‘specialist centres’ without any public consultation or without the sign off of an elected Health Minister.

Council condemns the decisions to send unsigned letters that failed to state that patients were being moved to a prototype model of delivery by the Department of Health and the WHSCT.

Council calls on the Department of Health and WHSCT write to all cataract and varicose veins patients who were sent such letters to clarify that this is a prototype and allow them to choose whether to take part in this model of delivery or the existing model.”
