Update on Council services due to snow & ice
6th January 2026
Updated: 07 January 2026
Due to ongoing snow and icy conditions, the following Council sites remain closed in the interest of public safety:
- Cuilcagh Boardwalk Trail
- Lough Navar Scenic Drive
- Gortin Glen Forest Park and Scenic Drive
- Marble Arch Caves has reopened
These venues will reopen once conditions improve. Updates will be shared on each venue’s and the Council’s social media channels.
Household refuse collections across the District have also been impacted by the recent snow and ice. The health and safety of staff and the public remains the Council’s top priority. While bin crews are working hard to maintain refuse collection services, hazardous road conditions mean some disruption is unavoidable.
- The Council will prioritise general waste (black/green) and dry recycling (blue) bins this week.
- Brown bins (food and garden waste) will not be collected between 7–9 January and will be lifted on the next scheduled date.
- Residents whose bins were missed are being asked to leave them out where safe to do so, as crews will collect them as soon as conditions allow.
The Council appreciates the public’s patience and understanding during this period.
Information on scheduled collection dates is available at Waste Collection Calendar – Fermanagh & Omagh District Council
