Registration Now Open for FEAR 2025 – Fermanagh’s Ultimate Endurance Adventure Race
30th July 2025
Registration is now officially open for FEARmanagh 2025, the Fermanagh Endurance Adventure Race, which returns to Derrygonnelly on Saturday, 27 September 2025.
Organised and funded by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, FEAR is a thrilling, home-grown adventure race that celebrates the untamed beauty of West Fermanagh through a demanding multi-discipline challenge. Set against the backdrop of the Cuilcagh Lakelands UNESCO Global Geopark, the race offers participants an unforgettable experience in one of Ireland’s most scenic and unspoiled landscapes.
This year, the Council is pleased to announce Monaghan Brothers of Lisnaskea as the official event sponsor. The sponsorship will spotlight their robust Isuzu vehicle range, which reflects the endurance and capability demanded by the FEARmanagh challenge.
John Armitage Director of Monaghan Brothers commented, “We are delighted to sponsor FEARmanagh this year. As a business, we are passionate about supporting local people and clubs, and this endurance event is the perfect match for our Isuzu brand. Isuzu vehicles are engineered to handle the most challenging landscapes with ease and are the ideal companion for thrill-seekers ready to push the boundaries of adventure—just like the athletes we’ll meet on 27th September. We are excited for this partnership and wish everyone taking part all the best.”
The event is expected to attract more than 300 competitors from across the UK, Ireland, and beyond. Two course options are available: the 74 km Long Course, designed for seasoned endurance athletes seeking the ultimate test of stamina, and the 35 km Short Course, which offers a tough but more accessible challenge. Both routes include trail running, cycling, and kayaking, starting and finishing at Derrygonnelly Community Centre.
FEARmanagh is delivered in partnership with the Cuilcagh Lakelands UNESCO Global Geopark and is supported by key local emergency services, including the Police Service of Northern Ireland, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, and the Irish Red Cross. The Council also recognises the essential support of Derrygonnelly and District Community Partnership, Derrygonnelly Community Centre, and the wider community who help bring this event to life each year.
Sustainability remains at the heart of the FEARmanagh event. Building on the success of its 2023 “Greening our Event” initiative, the Council will continue to introduce and promote eco-conscious practices throughout the 2025 race. Participants are encouraged to support these efforts by adopting responsible, low-impact behaviours on race day.
Speaking about the event, Councillor Barry McElduff, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, said:
“FEARmanagh is a flagship event, not only for the Council but for the entire community. It promotes physical and mental wellbeing while showcasing the breathtaking landscapes of our region. We look forward to welcoming participants old and new to share in this inspiring and empowering experience.”
