Omagh Resident Davy Fenton Honoured as April 2025 Community Climate Champion
3rd July 2025
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is proud to announce Davy Fenton from Omagh as the recipient of the Community Climate Champion Award for April 2025.
The Community Climate Champion programme recognises the outstanding voluntary efforts of individuals and groups across the district who are actively working to protect the environment and promote sustainable living.
Davy earned the April title for his inspiring work at St Conor’s Primary School in Omagh. Through his creativity and dedication, he has transformed an underused grassy area into a vibrant outdoor space featuring a mud kitchen, seating and planting areas, a shed, and the beginnings of a sensory garden. These improvements not only provide a rich, hands-on learning environment for the pupils but also support biodiversity and create a welcoming space for nature to flourish.
Davy’s contributions have established a lasting legacy at the school, offering children the opportunity to engage with and learn about the natural world. His efforts encourage current and future generations to take meaningful steps toward environmental stewardship.
Nominations for the Community Climate Champion programme are open year-round, with a new winner selected each month. The Council encourages nominations for individuals or groups involved in recycling initiatives, litter picks, biodiversity projects, energy-saving efforts, or any activity that inspires sustainable living.
