Marble Arch Caves named Northern Ireland’s top beauty spot

The Marble Arch Caves has been named Northern Ireland’s highest-ranked beauty spot in the 2026 Irish Beauty Spot Index, while also placing fourth overall among 17 of the island of Ireland’s most prominent natural destinations.

Located in the foothills of Cuilcagh Mountain in County Fermanagh, the Marble Arch Caves is part of the Cuilcagh Lakelands UNESCO Global Geopark, an area renowned for its outstanding geological and natural heritage.

The 2026 Irish Beauty Spot Index assessed 17 natural destinations across the island of Ireland, considering factors including traveller ratings, accommodation reviews, affordability and accessibility. Marble Arch Caves achieved an overall score of 46.5, making it the highest-ranked destination in Northern Ireland.

More than 2.5 million visitors have explored Marble Arch Caves since it first opened to the public in 1985. The attraction continues to welcome visitors from near and far to experience this remarkable underground world.

Guided cave tours take visitors on a journey through an ancient underground landscape shaped by water over millions of years. As they travel through winding passages and spectacular chambers, visitors can discover underground rivers, limestone formations and fascinating features that reveal the story of this remarkable landscape.

Speaking about Marble Arch Caves’ ranking in the 2026 Irish Beauty Spot Index, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Debbie Coyle, said: “I am delighted that the Marble Arch Caves has achieved such a strong ranking, which is a testament to the beauty and appeal of this unique area of outstanding geological and natural heritage.

“The ranking is also a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team of guides and staff, who work tirelessly to share this extraordinary part of Fermanagh with visitors from near and far.
