Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will host a major housing conference on Friday 14 November 2025 at the Strule Arts Centre, Omagh, bringing together key voices from government, housing, infrastructure and community sectors to address the urgent issue of housing supply and needs.

The event, titled ‘Future Housing Provision: Housing Conference 2025’, will examine the challenges of ensuring a ready supply of private, social and affordable homes across Fermanagh and Omagh District. The conference will highlight the need to address supply constraints and associated challenges and rising housing supply needs across both urban and rural areas. It will also provide a platform for tenant voices, young people, rural housing providers, advice agencies and private sector representatives to contribute to the debate.

The conference will feature a distinguished keynote line-up, including Paddy Gray (Professor Emeritus, Ulster University), the Department for Communities, Housing Executive, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council Planning Department, Housing Associations including Co-ownership Housing as well as estate agents, young people and tenant voices. Paul Clark (Broadcaster) will act as MC on the day.

Councillor Barry McElduff, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council said,

“Housing is one of the defining challenges of our time. This conference is an opportunity to bring partners together to move from policy into action.

My emphasis is that we need to see this happen in a local context … in our main towns, Omagh and Enniskillen, in our smaller towns including Carrickmore, Dromore, Fintona, Irvinestown and Lisnaskea, and in our villages and other rural areas.

We want to create the conditions to deliver more social and affordable homes, in the right places, for those who need them most.

Where are our people, young and old, going to live is a question that I am often asked. What is available or deliverable ? Will it be affordable ? This conference is about addressing those questions.”

Delegates are expected from across the Fermanagh and Omagh District housing sector, including housing associations, developers, estate agents, architects, planning professionals, advice organisations, community and voluntary sector bodies, infrastructure providers, MPs, MLAs, Local Councillors and government representatives.

The event will run from 08:45am to 1:00pm, followed by a networking lunch.
