Fermanagh and Omagh District Council extends its thanks to everyone who supported Heritage Week 2025. Delivered in partnership with local groups, volunteers, and heritage organisations, the programme was a great success, engaging communities across the District.

Around 600 people enjoyed a wide range of tours, talks, and community-led events, that showcased the District’s rich cultural, natural, and built heritage – opening access to unique sites and celebrating the stories that shape our identity.

Councillor Barry McElduff, Chairperson of Fermanagh & Omagh District Council said;

“Heritage Week 2025 highlighted the passion and grá that our local communities have for our places, traditions and stories. These are the very things that define us.

On behalf of the Council, I want to thank everyone who contributed to making these events such a success.

Heritage is central to our sense of place and identity. We are currently developing and rolling out our Heritage Plan 2030.

We will ensure that our heritage continues to be celebrated and promoted front and centre of what we do.”

The Heritage Plan 2030 outlines a strategic vision for the protection, celebration, and sustainable development of heritage across the District. Additionally, expressions of interest remain open for ‘PeacePlus: Know Your Place’, a new initiative supporting community-led heritage exploration.
