The shores of Fermanagh are set to welcome anglers from near and far as the 49th Fermanagh Fishing Classic prepares to get underway.
Entries for this year’s event have now officially closed, with an impressive 228 participants registered. Widely regarded as one of the premier showcase events in the match coarse fishing calendar, the Classic continues to draw competitors from across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Great Britain, and Germany.
The festival is delivered by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council in partnership with DAERA Inland Fisheries, local angling representative Tony Green, and Erne Anglers. The event is further supported by Tackle Guru, whose promotion across digital and social media platforms has helped expand the Classic’s reach and profile.
Enhancing the festival atmosphere, Enniskillen BID has played a key role in delivering a vibrant programme of entertainment throughout the festival period, bringing energy and activity back into Enniskillen town centre each evening.  Throughout the week (Monday to Thursday), a programme of entertainment and exclusive competitor offers will be available across four local venues – Pat’s Bar, Charlie’s Bar, Crowe’s Nest, and TJ Ryan’s. The festival will culminate in a closing event on Friday 1 May at the Westville Hotel, Enniskillen.
Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Barry McElduff, said:
“Now in its 49th year, the Fermanagh Fishing Classic remains one of the Council’s longest-established and most significant events.
We are delighted to welcome both local and visiting anglers to Fermanagh and Omagh, and we are confident they will enjoy not only the outstanding fishing on offer, but also the unique landscapes, hospitality and experiences right across the district.
The Classic plays an important role in supporting our local economy, bringing visitors into communities throughout the district, and we sincerely thank all participants for their continued support.”
