Fermanagh and Omagh PCSP Hosts Successful Family Fun Day to Celebrate Local Emergency Services
27th May 2025
Fermanagh and Omagh Policing & Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) successfully organised a thrilling range of displays and family fun activities at Emergency Services Day 2025.
Hundreds of adults and children flocked to Tyrone Farming Society Showgrounds, Omagh on Sunday 25 May 2025 to enjoy a fun-filled day of live, interactive entertainment showcasing the vital work of local Emergency Services.
Hosted by BBC Senior Weather presenter Barra Best—who even managed to keep a few showers at bay—the event featured dramatic rescue and investigative demonstrations, hands-on opportunities to explore ambulance, fire, and police vehicles, and so much more.
Despite the mixed weather, spirits remained high as families soaked up the excitement and entertainment.
Expressing the importance of Emergency Services Day and gratitude to all those involved, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh PCSP, Councillor Roy Crawford, said:
“I am delighted that Fermanagh & Omagh PCSP once again hosted Emergency Services Day and showcased the amazing work of our local volunteers and Emergency Services through interactive displays. We aim to provide the public with the opportunity to see first-hand and say thank you to the Emergency Services for the invaluable work that they do to keep communities safe and their rapid responses in emergency situations.
I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the Emergency Services for all their work in Fermanagh and Omagh and for the range of very realistic displays and safety messages they demonstrated to us all on Sunday.
Finally, I’d like to thank Barra Best for keeping the crowds entertained, and to Tyrone Farming Society for generously providing the use of their Showgrounds site.”
To help the public understand the work that the Emergency Services carry out on a daily basis, there were informative demonstrations from an array of emergency service providers, including Enniskillen RNLI, HM Coastguard Lough Erne, Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS), Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS), Northern Ireland Prison Service (NIPS), North West Mountain Rescue Team (NWMRT) and Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).
Throughout the afternoon, these organisations entertained and informed the public with action and sound from a crash car simulator, a prison service van, an 11 tonne armoured BearCat vehicle- the first time for it to visit an Emergency Services Day event – an impressive performance from the PSNI dogs team and finally a road traffic collision simulation by PSNI, NIAS and NIFRS.
Attendees were treated to a lively mix of entertainment, with toe-tapping music from St. Mary’s Silver Band Tempo and fun-filled performances by Denise from Jo Jingles while local food vendors served up a delicious spread of treats and hot drinks to keep everyone smiling.
