Fermanagh and Omagh District Council Marks 10th Anniversary with Community Celebration at Strule Arts Centre
5th March 2026
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council continued its 10th anniversary celebrations on Wednesday 25 February with a vibrant Community Appreciation Event at the Strule Arts Centre, Omagh. The evening brought together community groups, volunteers, partners, Councillors and staff to reflect on a decade of partnership, progress and community spirit across the district.
The event recognised the contribution of local organisations and volunteers who have strengthened communities over the past ten years. A short video presentation highlighted the many community projects delivered since 2015, emphasising the value and impact of collaboration between the Council and the community and voluntary sector.
The Council also acknowledged the work of the Fermanagh & Omagh Community Voluntary Sector Forum, led by Co‑Chairs Barry Boyle and Allison Forbes, whose leadership continues to support participation, capacity‑building and strong connections across the district.
The evening included music from the Omagh Filipino Group, followed by uplifting performances from Fermanagh Brightstarz and Skyzdalimit, Urban Motion, Harmonise Choir and Declan Ford, alongside reflections from Joe Mahon and Marie Dunne. Letterbreen Silver Band and St Mary’s Silver Band closed the celebration with a joint finale.
Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Cllr Barry McElduff, said:
“This event recognised the extraordinary individuals, groups and organisations whose dedication strengthens our communities.
As we celebrate ten years of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, it is your talent, commitment and resilience that continue to make this such a welcoming, connected and vibrant place.
The energy and friendship in the room at the celebration reflect exactly why our district continues to thrive.”
Chief Executive Alison McCullagh added:
“Reflecting on the past decade, it feels especially meaningful to recognise that the people who continue to champion our communities today are the same dedicated individuals who have done so, unwaveringly, for years.
The progress we’ve seen has been built on strong foundations laid during challenging times, driven by a shared commitment to community. So much of this work is done quietly, without seeking recognition, yet it creates a legacy that supports the most vulnerable and strengthens what is passed on to future generations.
My sincere appreciation to everyone who continues to show up, support others and enrich our district.”
