Fermanagh and Omagh District Council – July 2026 Illuminations
30th June 2026
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will illuminate Enniskillen Castle and the Strule Arts Centre during July 2026 to mark a number of significant international events and awareness initiatives.
4 July 2026 – 250th Anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence
Buildings will be illuminated in red to mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the United States Declaration of Independence. This milestone commemorates the historic declaration in 1776, which established the United States as an independent nation and remains an important moment in global history.
8 July 2026 – Remembering Srebrenica
Buildings will be illuminated in green as part of the “Remembering Srebrenica” initiative, marking the anniversary of the genocide at Srebrenica. The Srebrenica genocide, which began on 11 July 1995 during the Bosnian War, saw more than 8,000 people killed over a ten-day period. It is recognised as one of the five genocides commemorated through Holocaust Memorial Day. This illumination supports efforts to remember the victims, challenge hatred and promote understanding.
