Fermanagh and Omagh District Council joins local groups to celebrate Good Relations Week 2026
5th October 2026
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is encouraging residents to take part in a wide range of events taking place across the district during Good Relations Week 2026, which runs from Monday 12 to Sunday 18 October.
The annual initiative, organised by the Community Relations Council and supported by The Executive Office, will bring together hundreds of events delivered by more than 130 organisations across Northern Ireland. Through its Good Relations Programme, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is supporting a number of local activities aimed at bringing people together, strengthening community connections and promoting understanding across the district.
This year’s theme, ‘Include – Everyone. Everywhere. Every Day.’, explores what it takes for people to feel welcomed, valued and able to participate fully in community life. Throughout the week, events will provide opportunities for people from different backgrounds to connect, share experiences and engage in conversations around identity, belonging, migration, racism, sectarianism and shared spaces.
Councillor Debbie Coyle, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, said:
“Good Relations Week highlights the importance of creating communities where everyone feels welcomed, respected and valued. Through partnership working with local schools, community organisations, charities and businesses, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is pleased to support a programme of activities that encourages people to connect, learn from one another and celebrate the diversity of our district.
These events provide valuable opportunities to build understanding, strengthen relationships and improve community wellbeing. I encourage residents of all ages and backgrounds to get involved and play their part in creating an inclusive, welcoming and shared future for everyone who lives, works and visits our district.”
Good Relations Week has been running for more than 20 years and is one of the region’s largest annual celebrations of peacebuilding, inclusion and cultural diversity.
Martin McDonald MBE, Chair of the Community Relations Council, said:
“I want to thank the schools, charities, community groups and businesses across Fermanagh & Omagh who have put time and care into this year’s Good Relations Week, and Fermanagh & Omagh District Council for supporting them. They are creating opportunities for people from different backgrounds to meet at a time when questions of identity, belonging and division still affect daily life.
That takes commitment. It means opening doors, making space for different voices and being willing to hear experiences that may challenge our assumptions. Every event is a chance for someone to leave knowing more about a neighbour than they did when they arrived. Those conversations can become the beginning of stronger relationships.”
Good Relations Week 2026 is supported by The Executive Office and contributes to the delivery of the Together: Building a United Community Strategy.
