Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will illuminate Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre, Omagh throughout February 2026 to mark a series of important awareness days. The buildings will be illuminated from 6pm to midnight.
Wednesday 4 February 2026 – Teal for World Cancer Day
Cancer Focus NI’s Teal Takeover Week is aimed at raising awareness and funds for local cancer support services. It stands as a testament to the community’s commitment to supporting cancer research and care and serves as an important reminder of the need for continued awareness and support for those affected by cancer. Thursday 5 February 2026 – Purple for Oesophageal and Gastric Cancer Awareness Month
The buildings will be illuminated purple in support of Oesophageal and Gastric Cancer Awareness Month. The campaign encourages people to be aware of potential symptoms and to seek early medical advice where necessary. More details are available at: https://cancerfocusni.org/
Friday 6 February 2026 – Purple for LGBTQI+ Month
The buildings will be illuminated purple to recognise LGBTQI+ Month. The month provides an opportunity to celebrate diversity and inclusion while raising awareness of the experiences and contributions of LGBTQ+ people across our communities. It encourages open conversations, promotes understanding, and highlights the importance of creating safe and supportive environments for everyone. Saturday 14 February 2026 – Red for National Heart Month
To mark National Heart Month, both buildings will be illuminated red. Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke use this month to raise awareness of cardiovascular conditions and to highlight the importance of maintaining good heart health. Further information is available at: https://nichs.org.uk/
Wednesday 25 February 2026 – Purple for Community Recognition 2015 – 2025
A special event will take place in the Strule Arts Centre as part of the Council’s 10th anniversary celebrations, recognising the achievements and dedication of the community. Buildings across the District will be illuminated in purple that evening to mark the occasion and acknowledge the community’s continued contribution.
Saturday 28 February 2026 – Pink for Rare Disease Day
On Rare Disease Day, the buildings will be illuminated pink to support those living with rare conditions across Northern Ireland. The day aims to raise awareness about the impact of rare diseases and to promote improved understanding, research and access to treatment. More information can be found at: https://nirdp.org.uk/
