Fermanagh and Omagh District Council – April 2026 Illuminations
1st April 2026
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will illuminate Enniskillen Castle and the Strule Arts Centre throughout April 2026 to mark a number of important awareness days and community celebrations. The buildings will be illuminated from 8pm to midnight.
5 April 2026 – Blue for OCNDS Awareness Day
April 5th holds deep significance for the CSNK2A1 community, providing an opportunity to raise awareness of the challenges faced by those living with OCNDS and to foster greater understanding and support for the wider rare disease community. The condition is associated with challenges such as severe speech delay or lack of speech, epilepsy, cognitive impairment, autism traits and feeding difficulties, yet individuals living with OCNDS continue to inspire through their determination and their capacity to thrive beyond their diagnosis. 13 April 2026 – Purple for World Sarcoidosis Day
In the UK, sarcoidosis affects approximately 108,000 people. Also known as sarcoid, this condition occurs when cells in the body clump together to form small lumps called granulomas. These typically form in the lymph glands and lungs but can also develop in other organs. World Sarcoidosis Day aims to raise awareness of the condition, highlight symptoms and promote better understanding and support for those affected. 24 April 2026 – Pink for Intergenerational Week
Now in its sixth year, Global Intergenerational Week (GIW) continues to champion and celebrate meaningful connections between generations across the world. Running from 24–30 April 2026, the campaign invites individuals, community groups, organisations, government bodies and NGOs to come together to promote intergenerational practice in all its forms. 29 April 2026 – Blue for World Wish Day
Not just to mark World Wish Day but to celebrate 40 years of Make‑A‑Wish in Northern Ireland and across the UK. The illumination highlights the life‑changing impact a wish can have for children living with life‑threatening illnesses and their families. For four decades, volunteers in Northern Ireland have helped bring hope, joy and strength to children and families during their most challenging times. Many of these wishes create lasting memories that provide comfort and positivity during gruelling medical treatments.
