Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre to illuminate in symbolic colours this November
30th October 2026
Throughout November 2026, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will illuminate Enniskillen Castle and the Strule Arts Centre in a series of symbolic colours from 6pm to midnight, supporting a range of important awareness campaigns, commemorative events and causes that matter to communities across the district.
Monday 2 November – Blue for Talk Money Week:
Talk Money Week is a national campaign designed to make conversations about money more open, honest and accessible. Residents across the district are encouraged to join a free online event on Tuesday 3 November, from 10am to 4pm, which will bring together experts from across the financial, public and community sectors to provide trusted advice, practical guidance and realistic information. Wednesday 4 November – Pink for Queen’s University Belfast Walkie Talkie Girlies Society, Project Pink 3.0:
Over the past two years, this award-winning initiative has helped raise awareness to end violence against women and girls. By illuminating our Council buildings in Pink, we are sending a powerful symbol of support for this important cause and as a demonstration of solidarity with students and women affected by this issue.
Thursday 12 November – Blue for USPCA’s 190th Anniversary Celebration:
Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre will shine blue in honour of the Ulster Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals as the charity celebrates 190 years of dedicated service to animal welfare. Founded in 1836, the USPCA is the world’s second-oldest animal welfare charity. This landmark anniversary will be marked through a series of special events, including a wreath-laying ceremony and anniversary reception, recognising nearly two centuries of protecting and caring for animals.
Friday 13 November – Red for World Kindness Day:
As a gesture of appreciation and recognition for everyone who supported the Promises of Kindness Initiative, which saw more than 9,500 Promises of Kindness cards distributed across the island of Ireland in June 2026, Council buildings will be illuminated in red on World Kindness Day. The illumination serves as both a celebration of this remarkable collective achievement and a powerful reminder of the importance of continuing to honour and champion those promises of kindness within our communities.
Thursday 19 November – Blue for International Men’s Day:
International Men’s Day is an important annual observance that celebrates the positive contributions, achievements and influence of men and boys within our communities, while also shining a spotlight on issues affecting their health, wellbeing and equality. Through this illumination, the Council seeks to raise awareness, foster greater understanding and encourage open conversations around mental health and wellbeing, helping to ensure that men and boys across the district feel supported, valued and empowered to seek help when needed.
Sunday 29 November – Red for International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People:
This annual observance provides an opportunity to acknowledge the ongoing humanitarian challenges facing the Palestinian people and to recognise the importance of dignity, human rights, peace and self-determination for all. Through this symbolic illumination, the Council expresses solidarity with those affected by conflict and hopes for a peaceful future.
