The exhibition Curved Earth by Enniskillen-born, London-based ceramic artist Pádraig Drugan officially opened on Saturday 1 November at Enniskillen Castle Museum.

Visitors were welcomed to explore Drugan’s striking ceramic sculptures, which flow with spirals, curves, and rhythmic lines. Inspired by the natural world and Irish landscapes, his work evokes harmony, movement, and balance—inviting quiet reflection. Each piece begins with a pencil sketch and evolves through multiple perspectives before being hand-built in clay. Drugan’s approach blends organic inspiration with technical precision, resulting in forms that are both meditative and dynamic.

The exhibition also features short media clips documenting his creative process, from initial sketches to finished clay pieces, as well as photographs of his temporary stone installations along the Irish Atlantic coastline. These images offer insight into the landscapes and traditions that shape his practice.

Cllr Barry McElduff, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, reflected:

“We were proud to welcome Pádraig Drugan’s work back to Enniskillen. His ceramics speak to the rhythm of nature and the richness of our shared heritage. This exhibition is a celebration of creativity rooted in place, and we are delighted to host it at Enniskillen Castle.”

The opening event also featured guest speaker Noelle McAlinden, Creative Advisor, Artist, Curator, and Co-Chair of the NI Mental Health Arts Festival, who shared insights into the role of art in wellbeing and community connection. She reflected:

“It’s such a pleasure and privilege to help launch Pádraig’s solo show in his hometown. As an artist and arts educator, he continues to make his mark, inspired by the landscape, history, and heritage. He has shaped and sculpted clay in his own unique way, celebrating form through pattern and texture that resonates.

Thank you for sharing this exquisite work with your home place – the perfect space at Enniskillen Castle.”

Exhibited in London, Dublin, Belfast, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, and New York, Drugan’s work is held in private collections across Britain, Ireland, and Asia.

“I don’t claim to make any bold statement with my work; I just want to create objects which I think have a beauty about them — and hope that others might see that beauty too,” says Drugan.
