Council’s Career’s Information Day to provide insight into careers and recruitment processes
15th May 2026
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is inviting local residents to attend its first Careers Information Day, designed to showcase the wide range of career opportunities available within the organisation.
The information day is supported by the Department for Communities Labour Market Partnerships which create targeted employment action plans for council areas, allowing for collaboration at local and regional level to support people towards and into work.
The event will give local people the chance to meet Council staff, learn more about different job roles and career pathways, and gain an insight into what it is like to work for their local Council. This includes learning more about the benefits of Council employment, such as job security, training and development opportunities, and the opportunity to make a positive contribution to the local community. Attendees will also have the opportunity to see Council vehicles in action and enjoy a range of interactive demonstrations during the event.
The Careers Information Day is suitable for school leavers, students, career changers and anyone interested in public‑sector employment. On the day, attendees will receive practical advice on how to apply for Council jobs and guidance on the Council’s recruitment and interview process.
The Careers Information Day will take place on Thursday 28 May, from 2pm to 7pm, at Omagh Leisure Complex. Members of the public can drop in any time during the event or register their interest in advance using the QR code on promotional materials, which also allows attendees to highlight any access or support requirements.
Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Barry McElduff, said:
“This is an excellent opportunity for anyone seeking employment, looking to upskill or considering a change in career to find out more about working for the Council and to explore the roles and benefits available.
As a Council, this is the first event of its kind and I would encourage people to come along and learn more about how working for the Council can offer both a rewarding career and the chance to make a real and lasting impact on the local community.
The Council is committed to supporting a strong local economy and ensuring residents are aware of the employment opportunities available to them.”
