Council to Light Up Buildings in June to Support Charitable Causes and Key Campaigns

30th May 2025

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will continue its commitment to community engagement and awareness by illuminating Enniskillen Castle and the Strule Arts Centre, Omagh, throughout June 2025 in support of charitable causes and national awareness campaigns.

Monday 02 June 2025 – Leak Week
Buildings will be illuminated blue to mark “Leak Week,” an international initiative, organised by the CSF Leak Association, to raise awareness of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks—a debilitating and often under-diagnosed neurological condition.

Tuesday 03 June 2025 – Volunteer Week
Council buildings will light up blue to support Volunteer Week. This is an opportunity for Omagh Volunteer Centre and Volunteer Now to acknowledge, recognise and celebrate the contribution of Fermanagh and Omagh volunteers.

Friday 13 June 2025 – Infant Mental Health Awareness Week
Buildings will be illuminated purple to support Infant Mental Health Awareness Week. This year’s theme, “Who is holding the baby?”, focuses on the importance of bonding between parents and infants, especially in families facing trauma or mental health challenges. The campaign aims to highlight the crucial job that specialised teams and services within Western Health and Social Care do.

Tuesday 17 June 2025 – Children’s Hospice Week
Council buildings will glow purple to mark Children’s Hospice Week. The Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice, as the only children’s hospice in Northern Ireland, the organisation is using this week to raise awareness of its work supporting children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

Friday 27 June 2025 – Deafblind Awareness Week
To raise awareness of deaf blindness, buildings will be illuminated purple during Deafblind Awareness Week, organised by Deafblind UK. The campaign sheds light on this often hidden disability and encourages the public to be more considerate and inclusive.

Saturday 28 June 2025 – International PKU Day
Buildings will be lit green to observe International PKU Day, organised by the National Society for Phenylketonuria UK, to raise awareness of Phenylketonuria (PKU), a rare inherited metabolic disorder.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council remains committed to supporting charitable causes and raising awareness through the illumination of Enniskillen Castle and the Strule Arts Centre.
