Council recognises young achievers from across the District

On Friday 29 May 2026, over 140 young people from the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area were recognised at a reception, hosted by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council Chair, Councillor Barry McElduff, and Vice Chair, Councillor Shirley Hawkes, for their significant achievements and the positive contribution they make to the District.
The annual Young Achievers’ Reception provides an opportunity to celebrate the exceptional achievements of young people whose dedication and success have brought pride to the District.
The young people were shortlisted following a public nomination process, with achievements recognised across a wide range of categories including, but not limited to, Drama, Education, Music, Charitable and Community work, Public Service, Gymnastics, Volunteering, Dancing, Equestrianism, Farming, and Sport.
Speaking at the reception, which was held in The Ardhowen, Enniskillen, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Barry McElduff, said:
“Events like this are extremely important. They provide valuable civic opportunities to recognise the outstanding work and achievements of our young people who bring so much to our society through creativity, innovation and community involvement.
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is committed to supporting young people to reach their full potential. You are all excellent ambassadors for our Council area and your achievements reflect your hard work and determination.
I would like to congratulate each and every one of you on your success. You have made your families, schools, clubs and communities very proud. I, for one, encourage you to continue thriving into the future. ‘’
The Chair also acknowledged the important role played by parents, guardians, coaches and teachers in supporting young people to develop their talents and succeed.
