Council opens applications for Culture and Heritage Sponsorship

2nd June 2025

Culture Heritage Sponsorship

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is inviting online applications from eligible groups and organisations for sponsorship to deliver events that celebrate and promote the district’s rich arts, heritage, language, and cultural traditions.

A range of distinct strands of sponsorship are available, including:
European Heritage Open Days (EHOD) will take place from 8 to 14 September 2025 and has been extended to a full week of heritage-themed activity. Events may focus on ‘Architectural Heritage – past structures -future connections’ based on the 2025 theme. Events can also focus on improving access to heritage or exploring lesser-known stories. Suitable activities include guided walks, talks or tours, craft workshops, storytelling, music, dance or theatre, historical sports or pastimes, pop-up events, or those highlighting overlooked sites and stories.

Culture Night, taking place on Friday 19 September 2025, celebrates creativity and public engagement in the arts. Events may include pop-up performances, live music, open studios, art exhibitions or workshops, multicultural music or dance showcases, food-based cultural experiences, or theatre and drama.

Leid Week, from 24 to 28 November 2025, promotes Ulster-Scots language and culture. The programme aims to increase awareness and appreciation of Ulster-Scots through a diverse range of inclusive and accessible activities. Activities may include language or conversation classes, storytelling, drama or writing workshops, traditional music, cultural talks or tours, and exhibitions exploring Ulster-Scots heritage.

Seachtain na Gaeilge, running from 1 to 17 March 2026, celebrates the Irish language through learning, culture and media. Events may include language classes, storytelling, poetry readings, author events, Irish-language performances, writing workshops, lectures, discussions, or digital content such as podcasts and social media campaigns.

Groups and organisations may apply for sponsorship under more than one programme. However, to ensure a broad and balanced representation of events and applicants across all cultural and community activities, there is no guarantee that funding will be awarded for every strand applied for, depending on the number and range of submissions received.

Successful applicants will receive £300 sponsorship towards the delivery of their proposed event and activities. Events must be delivered within the relevant programme dates, align with the Council’s aims of promoting cultural expression and supporting heritage, enhance the district’s cultural offering, be free of charge and open to all, and take place within the district.

Speaking about the Culture and Heritage Sponsorship, Chair or Fermanagh & Omagh District Council, Cllr John McClaughry said
“The Council is committed to providing the best quality experience for everyone who lives and visits our district. Events are a welcome boost to the region and the local economy as they provide opportunities to showcase our district, talents, culture and heritage. These events enrich our community’s cultural landscape and I encourage groups and organisations to apply.”

Sponsorship opens at 10am on Thursday 05 June 2025 and closes at 5pm on Thursday 19 June 2025.
