Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is illuminating Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre, Omagh in a series of symbolic colours throughout November 2025 to mark key awareness campaigns and commemorative events. Each illumination takes place from 6pm to midnight on the designated date.

The programme began on Saturday 1st November, when both buildings were lit in purple to mark International Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS) Awareness Day. This initiative, led by the LGS Foundation, aims to raise awareness of this rare and severe form of epilepsy through landmark illuminations and public education. More information is available at lgsfoundation.org.

Tonight, Wednesday 5th November, the Council will illuminate both sites in pink to support the Project Pink Initiative by the Walkie Talkie Girlies Society. Founded by students at Queen’s University Belfast, this grassroots organisation advocates for women’s safety and raises awareness of gender-based violence. The pink illumination symbolises solidarity, empowerment, and community action across Northern Ireland.

Upcoming illuminations include:

  • Sunday 9th November – Orange for International Microtia Awareness Day
Supporting Microtia UK, this illumination raises awareness of microtia, a condition where the outer ear is underdeveloped or absent. The day promotes understanding and celebrates individuality. Learn more at Microtia UK on Facebook
