Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Barry McElduff, hosted a reception on Monday 15 September at the Grange Council Offices, Omagh marking the 80th Anniversary of Seskinore Young Farmers Club.
Speaking at the event, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Cllr Barry McElduff said,
‘As Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, I am delighted to welcome you all here to the Grange, Omagh for this reception to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Seskinore Young Farmers’ Club.
Since its formation in 1945, Seskinore Young Farmers’ Club has grown from strength to strength, from 4 members to 106 today. It’s not just an organisation, it is a supportive community, a place where individual potential is discovered and developed, and a foundation of rural life in our District. Generations of young people have stepped through its doors, building not only expertise and confidence, but friendships that last a lifetime.
The Young Farmers Clubs of Ulster is the largest rural youth organisation in the North of Ireland with over 3,600 members. Its mission is “a people focused organisation with the objective of encouraging individual development, creativity, initiative and contribution for the benefit of the member, charity, industry and the community.”
I believe that Seskinore Young Farmers’ Club brings this vision to life perfectly. The Club is run with dedication and heartfelt enthusiasm and the level of success achieved over the years demonstrates this. Your members consistently exhibit initiative, creativity and a strong sense of community, contributing meaningfully to both the Club’s success and the wider local area.
This year’s celebrations have truly highlighted the energy and dedication of Seskinore Young Farmers’ Club members, both past and present. From the anniversary dinner, Big Breakfast fundraiser and tree planting initiative, to looking ahead to the exciting event featuring ‘The Country Players’, each occasion highlights the Club’s strong spirit of camaraderie and its forward-looking commitment to growth and progress.
On behalf of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, and on my own behalf, I would like to congratulate the club on its 80th anniversary. I hope your time as members of Seskinore Young Farmers’ Club has been filled with enjoyment, meaningful experiences, and the creation of cherished memories. I’m confident you will continue to champion the Club and proudly demonstrate the meaningful contributions youth can make. With your passion and commitment, Seskinore Young Farmers’ Club is sure to thrive for many more successful years to come.’
