Omagh Christmas Lights Switch On

Omagh Town Centre will light up with family fun and sparkle on Saturday 23 November with a programme of Christmas music and carols, movies and festive food throughout the day before the Christmas Lights Switch on at 5.30 pm.

It promises to be a magical day out with fun for all the family. Come join in and enjoy listing to Omagh’s St Eugene’s Brass and Reed Band as they perform in the town centre (outside DANSKE bank) your favourite carols and bring the Christmas story to life. Take part in the Elf trail, follow the clues in shops and businesses around the town centre to locate the names of each of the Elves and enter the free draw to be in with a chance of winning a Family Ticket to the Omagh Pantomime in Strule Arts Centre in January 2020!

Within Strule Arts Centre enjoy storytelling and a visit to Santa located in the Roof Top Museum.  Create Christmas tree decorations to take home or help decorate the Strule Arts Centre Christmas tree.  Strule Café will serve a variety of festive foods while listening to Christmas carols overlooking the Strule River.  The Snow Sisters, Elsa and Anna will be holding a workshop from 1pm to 2pm, come along to make your own snowflakes and learn some exciting dance moves with Princesses, or join the Princesses for a special “VIP Cosy Party” at 2.30pm to 3.30pm where there will be story-telling and hot chocolate.  Following a busy afternoon, enjoy a festive family favourite movie Arthur Christmas at 2.00 pm. Be sure to see Santa’s arrival in the town centre just after at 4.15 pm where he will interact with the children as they are entertained on the main stage at the Court House. A variety of entertainment includes Omagh Integrated, St. Colmcilles Carrickmore and Gaelscoil Na gCrann Primary School Choirs singing a number of festive songs to get everyone in the Christmas spirit. Hear the Snow Sisters Elsa and Anna as they sing a variety of your Christmas favourites from movies like Frozen and Olaf’s Frozen adventure.

This is followed by local singer / songwriter Gareth Pritchard and his band who will keep everyone warm with musical entertainment in the town centre up to the Christmas Lights Switch on at 5.30 pm. A designated viewing area of the stage entertainment and performances will be available for people with disabilities. Please note there will be road closures and traffic diversions around High Street and George Street between 4 pm and 6 pm.

 

Shop Local Saturday will take place in Omagh on Saturday 30 November from 12noon – 4.00pm. There will be a festive atmosphere in the town centre with free family street entertainment on day.

Omagh will be filled with festive cheer on Saturday 14 December 2019 from 12noon to 4.00pm with the annual Santa Dander in the town centre. Families will enjoy free street entertainment alongside the treasure hunt activity around Omagh. Participants will receive goodies for taking part and all returned activity sheets will be entered into a draw to win a special prize. Santa Dander activity sheets will be distributed to schools in the local area before the event and will be available from the gazebo outside Danske Bank on High Street.
