Town Centre survey winner announced

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council recently invited residents to complete a survey to ascertain the views and opinions of shoppers and visitors from across the district on how to improve the town centre shopping experience in Omagh and Enniskillen and what measures should be taken to encourage them back into the these town centres to shop.

All respondents were entered into a draw for a  £100 shopping voucher. More than 1880 people took the trouble to complete the survey and the lucky winner of the draw was Kate Ward from Omagh who was presented with her prize by the Vice Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor John Coyle.

In presenting Kate with her voucher, Councillor Coyle said “ Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is committed to promoting and facilitating the recovery of  our town centres and we acknowledge that many of our town centre businesses have suffered greatly as a result of the restrictions  necessary to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Council is working in partnership with the town centre business community in Omagh and Enniskillen to support a sustainable long term recovery and to encourage shoppers to return to the shops, confident that all measures are being taken to ensure a safe shopping experience. This is evidenced by the fact that more than 1250 businesses across the district have signed up to the Council’s Confidence Mark initiative, confirming that they have implemented measures which will ensure that shoppers stay safe while visiting their businesses.

“I would also encourage people to shop local and support our businesses who contribute so much to the economic and employment base, not only in Omagh and Enniskillen but across all of our towns and villages.

“I would like to congratulate Kate on her windfall and I am confident that she will enjoy shopping local and spending the vouchers in the stores in Enniskillen and Omagh.”

The prize was jointly sponsored by Enniskillen BID and businesses in Omagh and the Council is very grateful to the business community in Enniskillen and Omagh for their generosity..
