An exhibition by Enniskillen Photographic Society, ‘Through the Lens’ was launched at Enniskillen Castle Museums on Friday 12 April 2019.

The Society’s 36th annual display was officially opened by Councillor Sean Donnelly, Chairman of the Policy and Resources Committee, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council.

The annual exhibition consists of print photographs created by members of Enniskillen Photographic Society.

The display highlights camera equipment belonging to members of Enniskillen Photographic Society and includes material used by the founding member of the Society, renowned local photographer, the late Mr. Shay Nethercott, who, at one time, had his photographic studio located at Forthill Street, Enniskillen.

Speaking at the exhibition launch, Chairman of the Policy and Resources Committee, Councillor Sean Donnelly, said:

“It gives me great pleasure to see photography and art being promoted locally and I wish to applaud Enniskillen Photographic Society for the valuable platform it is providing – helping people of all ages to enjoy photography and develop their skills.

As you walk around this display, I am confident that this collection of work will speak volumes about the fine talent which exists in our community.”

This exhibition includes photographs from across Northern Ireland and further afield. It incorporates colour and monochrome portraiture, images of fine art, still life, close up, natural history, street photography and photojournalism reflecting talent across many genres of photography.

Dr Anita Kirkpatrick, Chair of Enniskillen Photographic Society, said:

“We are delighted to be able to showcase the photographic flair of our Society members in this fabulous venue. The diversity of images submitted for the exhibition illustrates that our photographers cover all genres.

The standard of photography was very high this year and our judge Louise Borbely was most impressed.”

Anne Cassidy, MFA FRPS FIPF AFIAP, fine art photographer, lecturer and renowned judge of photography, was the guest speaker at the launch.

As part of the exhibition, Enniskillen Photographic Society has organised a special event on Saturday 22 June 2019 at Enniskillen Castle, 2pm to 4pm, when members of the Society will be available to provide photography tips and advice. Admission is free. New members to the Society are always welcome. For further information visit www.enniskillenphotographicsociety.com.
